Terms of Service
The rules for using Spur. Please read them carefully.
Last updated: June 12, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Spur (the "Service"), including this website and the Spur mobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not access or use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States to use Spur. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. What Spur Does
Spur helps you decide which of your credit cards to use for a given purchase to maximize rewards. Spur reads context such as the merchant or your location, compares it against the reward structures of the cards you tell us you hold, and suggests the card likely to earn the most. Spur does not process payments, issue cards, lend money, or move funds.
4. Access
Spur is currently offered on a waitlist and invite-only basis. Access is granted at our sole discretion, and we may approve, decline, suspend, or revoke access at any time, with or without notice. We may change, limit, or discontinue features at any time.
5. Your Account
To use certain features you may need to create an account, including by signing in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must not share your account or allow others to access the Service through it. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the source code or data of the Service;
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information;
- Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' data, or our systems;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the Service;
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
7. Financial and Rewards Disclaimer
Spur's recommendations are generated automatically and are for informational purposes only. They are not financial, tax, or legal advice. Credit card reward rates, categories, caps, fees, and terms are set by card issuers and change frequently. We do not guarantee that any recommendation, reward rate, or point value is current, accurate, or available to you. Always confirm the terms directly with your card issuer before relying on them.
You are solely responsible for your own spending, borrowing, and card decisions. Choosing a card to earn rewards may not be in your overall financial interest. Spur is not a financial institution and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any card issuer or network.
8. Bank Connections and Third-Party Services
Connecting a financial account is optional. If you choose to connect one, that connection is provided by third-party services (such as Plaid) under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not receive or store your full card numbers or online banking credentials. The Service may also rely on or link to other third-party services (such as Apple). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their terms.
9. Subscriptions and Billing
Spur may offer free and paid features. Paid subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store are billed and managed by Apple under Apple's terms. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store account settings. Except where required by law or by Apple's policies, payments are non-refundable.
10. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, and content, is owned by Spur and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
All card names and issuer marks are trademarks of their respective owners. Spur is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, or any card issuer. Any card visuals shown are illustrative recreations and not the actual issuer card art.
11. Your Data and Privacy
You retain ownership of the data you submit to Spur. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process that data solely to provide and improve the Service. How we collect and use data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. You may request deletion of your data at any time.
12. Service Availability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue it at any time.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spur and its operators, officers, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, rewards, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD $100.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Spur and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and intellectual property — will survive.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us to try to resolve the dispute informally.
