The honest answers.
What we do, what we don't do, and what it costs. If anything's still unclear, email us at contact@spur.cards.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No. Connecting via Plaid is totally optional. If you do, Spur uses your spending data to make better, more personalized recommendations. If you don't, the app still works. You'll just get recommendations based on category math instead of your specific behavior.
You can connect, disconnect, or skip it entirely at any time. The full breakdown is on our privacy page.
What happens when Spur has its own wallet?
We're building a standalone Spur Wallet. Once it ships, we won't need Plaid at all. The wallet will work like Apple Wallet does today: Spur gets the NFC tap, not your card details. We recommend the best card at the moment of payment, the transaction goes straight to your bank, and no card info is stored on our end.
Plaid is the bridge to better recommendations today. Spur Wallet is the destination.
Do you take a cut of my points or cashback?
No. Points go straight from your bank to you, like they always have. We never touch them.
Do I need to give you my card numbers?
No. You just tell us which cards you carry, like "Chase Sapphire Reserve", and we know which one earns most at every category.
Your actual 16-digit card numbers stay between you and your bank.
Will you sell my data?
No. We don't sell, share, rent, or trade your info. Not with advertisers, not with data brokers, not with anyone.
What does it cost?
Beta is free. Long-term pricing is TBD. We'll be transparent before anything changes, and you'll always have the choice to opt out.
When does it launch?
iOS beta is rolling out in small waves now. Public launch is summer 2026.
Will there be an Android version?
Eventually. iOS first, because that's where Apple Pay and Live Activities make this app feel native. Android is on the roadmap.
